On 4th July, the 16th Annual Automotive Powertrain Technology Conference (TMC2024) was grandly opened in Qingdao! Hou Fushen, Vice President and Secretary General of Chinese Society of Automotive Engineering (CSAE) and Executive President of National Institute of Automotive Strategy (NIA), attended the conference and delivered a speech. Li Kaiguo, Supervisor of SAE, Xu Xiangyang, Fellow of SAE, Professor of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Executive Deputy Director of National Passenger Vehicle Automatic Transmission Engineering and Technology Research Centre, Chen Yong, Fellow of SAE, Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Engineering and Professor of Guangxi University, Lei Yulong, Fellow of SAE, Professor of Jilin University and President of Qingdao Automotive Research Institute of Jilin University. Lei Yulong, Fellow of SAE China, Professor of Jilin University, Director of Qingdao Automotive Research Institute of Jilin University, Li Jianqiu, Professor of Tsinghua University and other famous experts and scholars attended the meeting. The meeting was co-chaired by Cai Wei, Fellow of SAE China, Foreign Academician of Russian Academy of Engineering, Professor of Harbin Institute of Technology, and Lu Lili, Deputy Secretary General of SAE China.

In the opening ceremony and plenary speech, Secretary General Hou Fushen expressed his sincere thanks and welcome to all the experts, leaders, delegates and media friends. He pointed out that the powertrain, as the heart of the car, has an important core support role, whether for enhancing the energy saving and emission reduction level of traditional automobiles or for the growth and development of new energy automobile strategic emerging industries. He also elaborated on the progress of different types of powertrain technologies, and gave strategic thinking and strategic advice on ‘focusing on the development of energy-saving technologies for automobiles’, ‘focusing on the development of low-carbon and zero-carbon technologies for commercial vehicles’, and ‘focusing on the basic research on automotive powertrain’. ‘It also gave strategic thinking and practical suggestions.

At the critical moment of market development and technology integration and innovation, in order to further play the role of TMC, promote industry technological innovation, lead the direction of technological innovation, and bring higher reference value for enterprises to formulate technological strategies and develop products, it is urgent to have industry leading experts to guide the direction of the development of new energy automotive powertrain technology and key issues, and encourage enterprises to participate in the TMC Innovative Technology Exhibition. The conference will be organised during the period of the conference. During the conference, six industry experts will be organised to tour the exhibition. Continuous in-depth exchanges are welcome.
